Sound Pack Compatibility Note: This sound pack will work with any aircraft model, both freeware or payware in FSX and P3D.

The MD-11 sound pack comes in different editions. The Pilot Edition includes the sounds as if they are heard from the cockpit itself. You can hear the realistic cockpit sounds as you fly around, limiting the effect that the engines and atmosphere will have on your in-flight experience. Living the simulation from the eyes and ears of a pilot is a massive part of enjoying your time on simulation software, and this MD-11 sound pack lets you do just that.

About The MD-11

The McDonnell Douglas MD-11 is one of the most popular planes in recent history. Although the first official launch of the MD-11 engine came in 1986, the search for an improvement to the DC-10 started as early as one decade previously in 1976. While ideas were presented to try and improve the power and effect of the DC-10, the improvements made by the MD-11 made it a no brainer to make the switch. Following years of minor improvements and re-designs of the DC-10, and in 1981 testing started in conjunction with NASA to create far more efficient and effective winglets. Alongside a whole host of new improvements, the genesis of the MD-11 was born.

With three engines and a body width that ranges from medium to long, the MD-11 was first created by McDonnell Douglas and eventually was taken over by the Boeing Commercial line. Its wide list of improvements over the old DC-10 included a third engine, an increased wingspan and a stretched fuselage, alongside many other changes to totally re-develop the planes performance. With an all-digital cockpit, the flight deck is only required to be two, whereas the DC-10 required three. With no flight engineer required, the MD-11 was a huge improvement in every capacity. Safer to run, cheaper and more efficient than the DC-10, the MD-11 has around 200 models built and improved on almost every aspect of its predecessor.

The MD-11 is the main build in a list of five variants. Out of the 200 built, 131 were the traditional MD-11. Produced until 1998, this was the first equivalent of the brand ever released. While the phasing out period for the MD-11 has been in effect for the last decade, they still stand strong on any traditional lists of strong passenger planes. If you want to experience what taking control of one of the most advanced planes of the time felt like, then this sound pack will help you raise the levels of authenticity that little bit more than before!

What You Get

This sound package includes the following:

  • External engine sounds which have been balanced down, so that you get more of the internal sounds to really improve the balance of the sound pack. As a pilot, you want to be hearing more of the chatter inside and the inner workings of the cockpit. However, the external sound package is still clearly audible and was recorded in a variety of different locations to ensure that the sound quality and consistency is absolutely perfect. Although balanced down for maximum effect, you can still hear the plane roar into life as you take off!

  • Internal engine sounds that help really integrate the entire experience and make it feel 100% authentic. With genuine sounds coming from within the cockpit that you would hear flying up in the air for real, this sound pack creates the MD-11 experience perfectly. By giving you the same quality of sound that you expect from a real plane, you can heighten your experience even further

  • Wind sounds that help to really create the right feeling and atmosphere within the game itself. As your plane soars through the air, you will be able to hear the wind hurl past the cockpit as you start to hit top speeds. This can really help improve the experience and with conditions set to make the sounds authentic with the weather, you get to see and hear everything a real pilot would as they took an MD-11 into the heart of a storm!

  • Cockpit environment sounds that help really build the atmosphere you would expect to hear within a cockpit. From announcements and call-outs to engine sounds and sound effects from the plane working through the motions, you can really get a feel for how just how much there is to take in as a pilot. These cockpit environment sounds were generated with the help of real professionals.

  • Gear-up & Gear-down sounds that give you the real sound of what a plane sounds like it moves up and down through the gears and take the plane to new heights and speeds. If you want to hear that same SOUND that you hear when you pull the gears into action on an MD-11, you can do that with ease using the MD-11 sound pack

  • 3D soundcones (FSX Only) which really help amplify the experience. Sound can only become as effective as possible when you hear it in the way you would in real life – sounds blaring over your speakers won’t cut it. Using 3D sound cones, you can make sure that the sounds are coming from the appropriate locations to really generate a sense of realism
