Inside here, you get access to six awesome passenger and freighter variants of the DC-10 right through to the DC-40, with several changes to engine and undercarriage configurations.

When used in the right context, this creates one of the most enjoyable range of DC mods that you are likely to find, as it totally refreshes one of the best loved simulation aircraft groups.

What do you get?

Inside this package, you get access to;

  • 19 HD liveries all worked upon and changed entirely to ensure they fit the right look and feel.
  • A full analogue pilot who works in perfect tandem with the aircraft.
  • Flight engineer panels for perfect management and control of your flight.
  • Multiple 2D pop-up panels for easy data access and management.
  • Custom aircraft views to help you see the aircraft in any way that you please.
  • An easy to use FMC system.
  • Accurate flight dynamics to impose flight accuracy alongside a dynamic wing flex.
  • 2D control panels.
  • XML landing gears.
  • And much more!

In short, this mod makes it easier than ever before to fly the DC-10 in the "right" way. It's gone through considerable changes and editing to ensure that it is both quality in terms of realism and authenticity but also to ensure that it's easy to fly so that beginners and veterans can have fun equally.

It's seen a total refresh of the model, the animations, the textures and the overall cohesion of it all to ensure that this is an aircraft package that flies true to the source material, with 2048x0248 liveries adding a gloss.

With the addition of a fresh and engaging virtual cockpit, as well, you can quickly make sure that you are flying an aircraft that feels genuine. The whole idea of CLS Lite was to introduce the aircraft in the finest volume and style possible whilst also giving you an aircraft that is less demanding to fly.

Many of us enjoy the challenge of simulation but don't have the time to learn every quirk and extra - this makes it easy for you to learn what you are doing incrementally. This means you can keep having fun whilst doing so with a reduced - but still challenging - learning curve.

Fresh, Interesting Changes

Many flight simulation mods come with the same old changes and additions, but with this mod you get access to something a little different, a little more pronounced. Indeed, with this mod you can see various additions that have previously been missed out for by DC sets.

For example, this includes an awesome new sound set that really should capture your attention - and the ears of those around you. Not only is there a major level of improvement and change within the overall picture, but the sounds are now here to help make the whole atmosphere come together as one. With these sound sets you will hear the real General Electric's engines roaring into life, adding much needed authenticity.

Also, you get a fully compatible aircraft that works just fine on both jetway and baggage truck operations. These might seem like minor features but it really does help to make the whole thing settle and feel a little bit different than it would have in the past.

It's also got a nice layered paint kit included so that you can create your own liveries. However, you will need access to some form of Photoshop or a Photoshop-compatible piece of software. If you are someone with an artistic mind and the ideas to make your own fantasy liveries then this is most certainly the place to start.

Another great addition has been that of the new manual with a panel guide and tutorial flight. These tutorials can help you get used to the aircraft and see how it actually manages itself, showing you all of its little quirks and extras that make such a telling difference here. If you want to understand the aircraft a little better, you can check the manual.

Expertly Managed Cockpit

The cockpit is always a big part of fun flying and with this new fully analogue cockpit, you can have access to something fun and engaging. The cockpit now allows you to have access to co-pilot as well as flight engineer panels for a greater level of control in every aspect of the flight itself. Not only dos this give you greater control but it lets you have a stronger layer of power across flights.

Most importantly for the cockpit changes though is the addition of the 2D pop-up menus that will appear. These will give you plenty of access to information and facts about your aircraft and the cockpit, making accessing vital data and also critical controls much easier than before. You can even get access to overhead, throttle quadrant and radio stack panels for the best level of precision and care when flying possible.

This comes with a fully working flight engineer's panel station which has been expanded to include pop-ups for simple viewing. If you need to make adjustments in here you should find its user friendly approach enough to improve your overall control and understanding of what is going on in front of you when flying.

Included also is a fresh and uplifting FMC system, letting you control SIDs and STARs in the flight simulator database. You also get access to radio and navigation frequency changes for adjustments to your frequency entry, your V-speed calculations and also your waypoint features. You can even check your fuel numbers on board!

New cockpit textures have been added in, too. These help to make sure that wear and tear is included, based on many reference photos taken to let the creators see how the aircraft would change. This makes the overall cockpit environment more welcoming and far more authentic.

Virtual Cockpit for Precision

The cockpit is the hardest part of an aircraft to get right, and this is why the addition of a virtual cockpit can be so impressive. Virtual cockpits for precision are a majorly important element of flight accuracy and with this, you get a virtual cockpit based on the real planes themselves. With eleven models included you get six different variants in total with different engine and undercarriage configurations.

This makes a massive difference to how you manage the virtual cockpit in each, adding a nice layer of challenge - and education - to the time that you spend learning about this aircraft.

Indeed, new custom aircraft views from the virtual cockpit include the introduction of wing views, with new animations added in to make it all feel as close as possible to the real thing. These views let you see all of the fresh new animations come to life better than ever, with a front row viewing for everything from the dynamic wing flex to the flaps, spoilers, elevators, engine flaps, passenger doors and thrust reversers all bursting into life. It's these little things that sell the image of an aircraft and how it operates, which this mode does with clinical perfection.

Another major improvement was the introduction of the XML landing gear animations, which would always help to ensure that the wheels stay flat on the ground at all surfaces. No more floating on thin air or watching your aircraft go underground for a second - these changes make a massive, massive difference!

An animated 2D door control panel has been included that lets you operate passenger and cargo doors, too, which adds yet another nice layer of reality to this deeply hospitable mod. Lastly, animated large cargo doors are included on the freighter variants so you can see them open instead of happening by magic.

Improved Flight Dynamics

Flight dynamics play a critical role in how much we enjoy using an aircraft, and this new highly tuned flight dynamics set makes such a massive difference. This was based on genuine documentation which plays a major part in helping the whole thing come together.

The flight models are all based on official Boeing specifications, making sure that you get an aircraft that flies close to the real thing. This was also provided using an air carrier FAA level-C 3-axis simulator, which was a huge helping hand in getting the accuracy as close as possible.

The best part about the new flight dynamics, though, is the addition of the 'true feel' format which adds a better level of adjustment and reality to the performance. When used in the right way this gives you a solid feel as you fly, offering professional and engaging flight testing based on official FAA simulation requirements.

If you are sick of flying estimations about flight dynamics or you just want to get to grips with something that makes your life easier, not harder, then you should definitely use this mod as it captures the reality of the specifications with ease.

New and Improved Models

Each of the models included within this mod look excellent and give you an easy and effective way to fall in love with the DC series. In this package, then, you gain access to the following models;

  • DC-10-10 - This is the original passenger equivalent of the old DC-10, giving you a General Electric's CF6 Turbofan engine that sounds wonderful. With just 122 built in total between the years of 1970-81, you'll be flying a bit of vintage flight history!

  • DC-10-10F - The cargo equivalent of this aircraft, it has been modified to include a large fuselage freight door that also adds to the original class and style of the original DC-10.

  • DC-10-30 - The 10-30 is a popular aircraft, being the long range edition of the DC-10-10. With support for a larger fuel tank as well as an increased flight range, as well as a new main gear to handle the fuselage supports and the new aircraft weight, you get an aircraft which is sturdy and easy enough to learn about. Arguably the most popular of the DC-10 series.

  • DC-10-30F - The DC-10-30F is a popular model for various reasons, modified to include the large fuselage freight door again/ the models included are using a General Electric CF6-50C and 50C2 engine respectively.

  • DC-10-40- This was another powerful and much loved version of the DC-10, with major changes to the aircraft being implemented. Another long range version of the DC-10-10, it's similar to the 10-30 but also includes some important distinctions. For example, it uses a Pratt and Whitney JT9D engine. The models included are using both centre and no-centre gear configurations which look excellent.

  • DC-10-40F - The cargo version of the excellent DC-10-40, this gives you a large fuselage freight door and the use of the old JT9D engines yet again.

As you can see, each model which has been included comes with its own little quirks and changes that make them more particular to fly. Each model is based on the real thing and also gives you a strong and considered approach as to what it would be like to be in the cockpit yourself, so if you want to have plenty of realism be sure to start here!

This DC-10 is pretty good for an F-lite version of this aircraft. I really have no complaints. I got what I paid for. It's easy to fly if you follow the manual.
