ERCO Ercoupe 415C for FSX/P3D

ERCO Ercoupe 415C for FSX/P3D4.4/5 5 reviews

As an aircraft with a genuine reputation and style about it, the Erco Ercoupe carries a swagger that its name should suggest. A low win, monoplane aircraft which was designed in the US it has gone from the butt of the jokes to something of a classic aircraft in a matter of years. First released in the 1930s, it was designed to be a safer approach to the rather challenging aspect of safe fixed wing aircraft at the time. Read more...

Production continued after the end of the Second World War, and from there it became a tad more popular as time went on. Today, it might no longer be in use but now fans and simulation gurus can enjoy a unique and enjoyable process that lets you really understand why this aircraft was, at one stage, held in such high regard by aviation experts.

What's New?

  • This aircraft design does a wonderful job of replicating the real thing. For example, this has various new special features included to make it fly just like the real thing. With features such as 2-control, Spin Proof, Stall Warning Cushion, Tricycle Landing gear, Steerable Nosewheel, Full Horizon Visibility and Wheel pants you should have no problem at all controlling and dictating the way that this aircraft will fly. You will be in full control of every minor flight system!

  • Likewise, this aircraft brings to life all of the real-life equipment used. With the flight specifications and style of this aircraft put together and made to look the best that it can, this modification utilizes key features such as A Continental C-75, Sensenich Propeller, electric starter, Generator, Battery, Propeller Spinner, Foot Brake, carburetor Heater, Bubble Windshield (Plexiglas type), Plastic Cabin Enclosure, Baggage Compartment and a full Set Contact Flight Instruments to really bring the system to life and excel.

  • Specifications of the aircraft also match the equipment used - when you take off using this machine you should quite quickly notice how effective it can be. Top speed 120 MPH, Cruising Speed 96 MPH, Climb 720 Ft. Per Min., Service Ceiling 13,000 Feet, Range 450 Mi @ 105 MPH, 530 Mi @ 80 MPH, Take-Off Run (no wind) 520 Feet and Landing Run (no wind, full brake) 190 Feet - these are just some of the statistics that roll off the tongue when looking at this!

Key Features

  • Approved by our Beta team, this fully utilizes the effective features and specifications of the real thing so that performance levels can feel at peace with reality. No creative license or extra features are included.

  • Made for the experts out there as well as typical simulation fans, this uses high quality 3D gauges to help you check key factors of your flight progress at a moments notice. This really does improve the format and control of your aircraft, making it more engaging to fly with.

  • Fully compatible for use with both FSX and P3D so you can use this modification with any simulator that you please - the choice is yours!

  • HD textures are used to make the aircraft look the very best that it can, also making use of 2D bump effects, world reflections and specular effects to make the most enjoyable system that you can. One thing that stands out, though, is the attention to detail not hampering performances.

  • Bone animations are included for animated windows to make sure that the aircraft feels alive and well as you fly around, making everything stand out.

  • Self-shadowing effects are also used to help make the animations, textures and various other features leap off the screen and make a positive graphical input.

  • A massive part of the process with aircraft today is presentation, and this provides you with customized sound sets which provide booming audio and effective sounds to really help make the world come alive around you.

  • The sounds are also effected in the environment - the cockpit alone will not be coming to life, the world will! When flying this aircraft it soon becomes much easier to see the rest of the world as much as you can hear it.

  • Makes use of a GTX330 transponder system which has been designed to offer you a progressive and effective way of flying. Everything comes together to really offer something fresh and exciting as well as ensuring that you can fly your aircraft with precision, ease and style.

  • Make your flight process that little bit easier with the help of a custom XML coded system for realistic gauges and animations to come to life. These performance-friendly XML coding systems do wonders for bringing together the life and class of the system, helping make the whole system feel authentic.

  • High quality animated pilots are included with various options to choose with regards to how they will progress or operate. Make the choice so that the pilot looks the way that you had intended, with plenty of options open to you for making the right choice and decision on format.

  • 4-stage 3D propeller and prop effects are added in which do wonders for the overall realism and control of the flight. This makes a huge difference to the overall progress and authenticity of your flight, ensuring that it can keep you on the right direction whilst offering true flight authenticity.

Specific Changes

This model introduces a whole host of new changes that you may otherwise never have considered, including;

  • New animations for the control linkage, pilots, doors, windows, switches and levers all of which do an excellent job of portraying the interior of the aircraft with style.
  • Customized sound sets which do a wonderful job of projecting and promoting the right kind of approach to flight simulation.
  • Two unique variations - one with a 3D logo and a reflective nose cone, and one without.

This also brings to life some exciting new paint themes, including;

  • N417MA - Civilian model (restored)
  • N3042H - Civilian model (restored)
  • N3642H - Civilian model (restored)
  • N3755H - Civilian model (restored)
  • N946607 - Civilian model (restored)
  • NC3530H - Civilian model (restored)

Providing great packages and add-ons for our favorite flight simulators since 2008, Flysimware have been hard at work with their next addition. Presenting Flysimware's ERCO 415C for Flight Simulator X and Prepar3D, this wonderful recreation of the American made, low-wing monoplane will make a nice addition to your virtual hangar. Designed to be the safest fixed-wing aircraft that aerospace engineering could provide at the time, you would be hard pressed to find a safer aircraft for touring or training.

This model of the 4145C was built for the simulated environment using real world specifications; from its cruising speed to its service ceiling, rest assured that the performance of this aircraft is very close to the real thing. The two blade propeller has four distinct stages and effects to match. And when you pair these propeller effects with Flysimware's custom sound set, it adds an authenticity to its performance that flight dynamics alone couldn't create.

The snug virtual cockpit offers full horizon visibility through the large Plexiglas bubble windshield, allowing for some spectacular views and making this a very good aircraft for touring. With high quality 3D gauges and self shadowing, the interior model is as well crafted as the exterior model. While the exterior model has half a dozen liveries to choose from, each of which reflect the era of the ERCO Ercoupe's creation, a splash of color does extend into the cockpit and down the center of the simple and clean panel.

Numerous animations can be found both inside and out that assist in improving your visual experience, while reflections and shines roll over the body of the the 415C and help make it feel like a part of the virtual environment. Custom XML coding for both animations and gauges has allowed Flysimware to get exactly the right feel for each individual element and deliver the best experience possible.

Flysimware have put together a fun package, with a fantastic model of an aircraft that has been described as almost foolproof, one that you cannot stall nor spin; the perfect aircraft for a new pilot to use to find their wings.

Honestly, it is acceptable, but not accurate. Very few Ercoupe's have the wheel spats, that was an add on 30 years later. The aircraft's acceleration is not accurate. It is to slow to get to lift off speed. The cruise speed is way to high. The aircraft will not slow down for landing. The overall model looks acceptable inside and out although the cowling looks ridiculous from the pilots perspective.

As a real Ercoupe pilot I was hoping for a better rendition. The real aircraft can lift off at about 60 MPH (not Knots), it also lands at that speed. The VNE or top speed for this aircraft according to the POH (pilots operating handbook) states 100 MPH. I am not a computer expert, just a pilot playing around with a simulator. The Classic Wings rendition was quite a bit more accurate in almost every respect. I will have to try to figure out a way to correct the flight envelope and the acceleration factor in order to make the aircraft fly accurately. The elevator throw is pretty accurate and the aileron roll rate is fairly accurate. The real airplane does not stall, therefore it does not spin. It does a really cool thing on landing, pull the power all the way out, hold back on the elevator and the thing will sink at an incredible rate. All that is required to get out of that is to add power.

All in all I give the mode a fair rating, it just needs some tweaking to be better.

Initially disappointed with Ercoupe performance. Cruise speed and rate of climb well below published performance specs, oil temp maxed out for all power settings, no working nav lights. I wrote to Flysimware customer service and got prompt attention. They pointed me to a fresh patch on their site that fixed performance problems and apparently a few other bugs that I hadn't noticed. Still no nav lights in FSX, but I know how to add these via the aircraft.cfg file and did so. (P3D version may have working nav lights, but I can't check unless and until I purchase that sim.)

Now I am a happy pilot. Spent several hours flying the upgraded 415C around familiar upstate NY territory. It's a keeper

Excellent recreation of a classic aircraft. In fact, this is the only plane in FS that I actually considered buying (a real one) at one time. The ability to add or remove the passenger is a plus as well as the excellent pull down panel for other variables. All in all, a fine product.
