CRJ 550/700 Aircraft Add-on for MSFS

CRJ 550/700 Aircraft Add-on for MSFS5.0/5 1 reviews

Short distance flying using commuter aircraft allows for the jet-like feel out of the big hub airports to much smaller destinations. They can also be some of the most intense flights a pilot might experience, virtual or otherwise. And the CRJ 550 and CRJ 700 are available to experience for Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS) 2020. One of the best examples of these aircraft is the Bombardier (now Mitsubishi) CRJ airlines (CRJ 550 and 700) that offered a big flight feel for between 50 to 100 people, in comfort, and with less noise, for short flights to (relative) close-by destinations. In fact, the 2-2 seat arrangements (due to the slim fuselage) gave the interior a look similar to a business jet – and many businesses did utilize their services.

As in the real world, virtual pilots of these planes will require more skill than they might to pilot an Airbus or Boeing aircraft, simply due to the limited chance for automation and the need for more manual flying.

This is perhaps best demonstrated in some of the smaller airports that may have a lack of navigational equipment and so require the pilot to manually approach and land.

The reproductions of the aircraft have been achieved by using multiple photographs of the original versions, with both the CRJ 550 and 700 aircraft dripping in realism and authenticity. A good example would be the fluid animations such as landing gear, flaps, and doors.

Inside the aircraft, in the cockpit, this realism continues, with detailed modeling and an overall realistic feel to the navigating equipment, as well as other effects, such as rain on the cockpit window.

Once in the air, the movement and aerodynamics of the aircraft equally replicate their real-world versions, with its behavior very much responding to the conditions around it. And the realistic and dynamic sound (created using Wwise) further adds to this immersive realism.

This authenticity is further on display when looking at the electronic flight display system, which performs detailed performance calculations using the weight and balance of the aircraft, as well as the transfer of weight, fuel, and calculated V-speed.

There are also checklists for all flight situations, and individual configuration settings for aircraft maintenance, as well as the preferred aircraft state when loading.

Please note, as soon as the SDK allows it, chart display (NavDataPro Charts and Navigraph charts) will be made available free of charge.

The add-on also features nine different liveries across the two aircraft (see below) and feature high-resolution PBR textures that really bring the aircraft to life.

Also featured are Extensive Flight Management System and Honeywell ProLine Avionics, which also include Advisory and Coupled Vertical Navigation, as well as a Head-up Guidance System.

The navigation is delivered with February-March 2021 (AIRAC 2102) data and can be updated via NavDataPro and Navigraph.

Eight manuals are also included, which feature step-by-step documentation.
