The HD Series of Carenado's fantastic King Air C90B is certainly one of the best available for both Microsoft Flight Simulator X and Prepar3D. It has a host of new features to make it even more of an attractive aircraft and even more fun to fly.
Carenado have really gone all out with this one. This C90B comes sporting high resolution 2048x2048 textures that bring this impressive twin-turboprop to life. With six HD liveries to choose from and a blank texture for creating your own custom repaints, this package is certainly visually rewarding. Made all the more so by some of the new special animations and a fantastic new lighting rendering system that makes your strobes and beacon lights react in a realistic way with the environment around you, including illuminating objects on the ground.
Inside the sensational virtual cockpit, is a brand new Avidyne Multifunction Display positioned in the center of the beautifully lit console. The cockpit feels spacious and looks incredible, with accurate shadows and eye catching 3D gauges that can even be seen from the back of the plane. Fantastic interior lighting effects create more depth and a richer visual experience for you to bask in on those long flights. Overall it feels true to the era and definitely has an early nighties vibe, although it looks so much more modern when it's all lit up at night. Paired with improved 3D stereo sounds alongside new special effect sounds for knobs and switches aid in giving you the most immersive experience you could hope for.
Customization options are great for pilots who like things just so, and the C90B has a whole panel dedicated to just that. You can use it to control window transparency, the level of reflections on surfaces, and toggle static elements such as wheel chocks and sight props.
Size wise, the C90B is a step up a lot of the light aircraft that may be filling some peoples virtual hangars. If you're thinking of stepping up your game, the C90B is wise choice. It's a more challenging aircraft to fly, the flight dynamics that have been tested by real pilots ensure that the aircraft behaves and feels as it does in real life. It's certainly a good stepping stone if you want to gradually move up to bigger aircraft.
5/5 Verified Purchase
It took a while to get this bird flying and some aggravation and disgust, but once I got all the settings right on my sim... WOW... this is what real detail is all about!
This is a beautiful and great airplane. The performance and the sound is very realistic... the only flaw that I could pick out was the speed adjustment during taxi. This product is well worth the money spent. Remember... make sure you have installed your Service Pack 1 & 2 and it will perform beyond your expectations.
