With attentive detail to the military buildings being used, the overall layout and the general theme of the base you can see a comprehensive upgrade over the original, making something that looks the very best that it can.

Previously opened up as a balloon barrage station to protect the Port of Hull and the River Humber in the Second World War, the base was utilized for various different systems and assaults. It was handed over to the US Air Force for a period, too, as new Fighter Group personnel came and arrived from the States.

This mod looks to capture all of this to make sure that you are left with an air base that looks fresh and carries the historical connotations of its success. At one stage, the base itself was known as ‘Goat Hill’ by US agents due to its unique position. In this mod, then, you will see multiple different aircraft flying around from P-48 Thunderbolts to P-38 Lightning’s all cutting around the skies nearby and landing.

What’s Changed?

  • An impressive range of detail has gone into making sure the textures, layout and scale of the Air Base is as accurate as it possibly can be. Makes sure you are flying in a location that looks true to the historical format.

  • Uses the right aircraft, making sure that you only see models flying around here which have actually used the base itself. Repaints were carried out by Frank Safranek and the models themselves were provided by David Copley.

  • Life exists here as you see various goings on occur as you fly and arrive here. From the pilots talking to ATC to aircraft arriving and taking off, this does a good job of making the airport look nice and lively.

  • Makes use of proper wartime buildings to make sure you have a historical look and feel to the Air Bae, with wartime buildings that survived the battles still being used here. You can view the buildings on Google Earth to see just how close the designs are, too!

  • And much more!

About Team SDB

Team SDB, a joint effort from developers based in the UK and USA but primarily consisting of Mike Dews in the UK and Frank Safranek in the USA have been developing flight simulator scenery add-ons for over a decade.  Originally beginning with work published by Alphasim (Phil Perrott) also known for Virtavia, they now release independantly.

Team SDB generally focus on UK/US airfields, airbases and military precenses and bring them to life as scenery add-ons in the simulators.  They have released many titles that have been well received by the community compatible with a range of simulators such FS2004, FSX and Prepar3D.  They also have other projects releases such as aircraft carrier add-ons compatible with the latest sims.

Team SDB also hope to remaster and release their scenery add-on portfolio for the new Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS) 2020 release.
