P-51 Princess-Part of the 530th Fighter squadron in the 311th Fighter Group, this model was based in China and would have been used sometime prior to July 1945. This aircraft is fitted with a DF Loop antenna as well as a dorsal fin fillet, making it far more balanced than some of the older models

P-51 Lope’s Hope – Part of the 75th Fighter squadron in the 23rd Fighter Group, this was based in Chiahkiang and was flown by the famous Colonel Donald Lopez. This would have been spotted in the sky sometime in November 1944. It does not feature the fillet as mentioned above, but does have a DF Loop antenna

P-51-10-NT – Part of the 503rd Fighter squadron and the 339th Fighter Group, the 10-NT was a key part of the Cambridgeshire brigades flown by Lieutenant Esteban Terrats in January 1945. The aircraft was shot down in action in March 1945

P-51-5-NT – Part of the 352nd Fighter squadron and the 353rd Fighter Group, this was flown by Lieutenant John Davenport and took part in various skirmishes in 1945. The aircraft itself was using full Malcolm hood equipment and a dorsal fin fillet, making it extremely popular both in looks and in its general style

P-51-1-NA - Part of the 353rd fighter Squadron and the 354th Fighter Group, this P-51 was well recognized because of its overall style and class. It was flown by Captain Donald Beerbower, and was one of the earliest of the P-51 range to be sporting the fin fillet modification’s that are so popular with this range of vehicle

P-51-15-NA – This brilliant recreation of the 5th Fighter Squadron, 52nd Fighter Group aircraft is one of the most popular of the time. It hails from Italy and was used in the summer of 1944 – it’s not modified in any real ways apart from carrying the dorsal fin fillet

Mustang Mk III KH616 –Used by the Australian military, it flew out of places like Aviano, Italy, until it was shot down on Boxing Day 1944. This was to the last casualty for the 3 Squadron; its pilot, J. Quinn, spent the rest of the war in a POW camp!

Mustang Mk III HB876 – This was a popular brand of aircraft at the time and was used by the Royal Canadian Airforce. It was part of the 441 Silver Fox squadron, and was modified with various changes and additions including a very unique looking bare metal finish to make it look far more unique to its contemporaries

F-6C Miss Revenge – This stunning piece of craftsmanship was used in the latter parts of 1944, was flown by Ed McComas, and well regarded at the time was an ace pilot. He won 14 victories flying Miss Revenge over the war, and made the use of its extremely agile nature to get in and around the German supplies and help to win the war. Simplistic in design, this carried a real mystique and style about it that very few other aircraft at the time could match

P-51B-10-NA – The last aircraft provided in the files, this was known as the Impatient Virgin and carried a huge amount of success throughout the war. It was flown by several people, including Lieutenant Victor Bocquin, Lieutenant John Bricker and Flight Officer Wade Ross. Each mission it took part in was a success in general, and the aircrafts very specific wireframe was recovered and restored in 2004. This makes it one of the most iconic of the P-51 range, carrying all of the hallmarks we have come to recognize across the years

Key Features

  • This version of the aircraft, version 2.0, covers everything that you need to know about managing an aircraft in the most detailed manner possible. It’s hugely accurate and very comfortable to be a part of, and also gives you a huge range of animations and effects so you can get to grips with them. It’s massively detailed and one of the most effective ways that you can possibly get to grips with flying the P-51 range as it covers every little minor detail that could possibly need to use

  • It’s got incredibly delicate frame rate performance, too. this ensures that you get a very active and consistent level of quality from the aircraft as you fly them with very little there to halt your performance or to sly down the actual flight simulator in any way shape or form. This is because of the high quality coding that has taken place within the mod itself, putting in place all of the little things that make the performance even more effective, regardless of the condition of the machine that you are currently using – this improves the overall simulation experience for you

  • Textures for the interior and the exterior have been created using more than 500 different photos. This helps to bring the whole thing together and make sure that far more than just the original key features are going to be in place. In general, this is one of the most comfortable and enjoyable modifications to look at for the sheer detail and quality that is included on each and every aircraft. The attention to detail on even the most miniscule of details throughout the design comes to life here in true style, giving you easy access to genuine quality

  • With more than 11 months of development time this is one of the most committed and well-received packages out there; the style of the aircraft mixed with the attention to detail really does bring everything together in the most stunning contrast possible. If you need help in mastering the situation, you only need to look around at the massive array of features open to you. This holds nothing back and ensures that you can get the level of performance that you need allied with a truly stunning level of graphical quality and consistency, creating the most elegant package it can

  • The virtual cockpit has been completely remastered and managed to make sure that it captures the realistic style and scale that comes with flying a Mustang like this. It makes sure that the cockpit itself has been modeled in the right manner and captures all of the specific details required

  • It’s hugely accurate in terms of scale, too. Everything has been measured against other aircraft and this will easily create the kind of welcoming and engaging atmosphere that you would hope to see from an aircraft like this. By capturing the size of each model perfectly, this truly feels authentic

  • With a huge range of operational, 3D model systems included in here you will be able to get access to a cockpit that looks just like the real thing. It’s got accurate diagrams and documents – many of which were considered to be top-secret at the time – to add another nice little layer of realism and quality to the whole cockpit. You will have total and complete control over the aircraft and how it performs during the flight itself

  • Using unique flight model technology, this takes on the real nature and style of the original model. This really brings everything into sharp contrast and makes the whole historical output of the aircraft exactly as it should be. If you are worried about using something merely based on the originals you don’t need to worry; this uses statistics from the actual creators to make sure you have an aircraft package that feels truly real

  • It also manages to get many of the unique flight envelope qualities included, these are designed to take advantage of all of the various features that were then new in FS2004 such as flight reporting and also some very unique other features that were added in along the way

  • Things like the qualities of the P-51 are well documented and then managed perfectly into this project. Following a range of consultations with the creators of the D aircraft, a particularly popular “sister set” to the P-51, this brings you into a rich recreation of earlier models. This has been described as “the sweetest handling” P-51 mod out there!

  • Unique sound recordings that capture the Mustang just as it would have sounded, enhancing the atmosphere and style of the journey so much more

  • Original art versions of the Army Air Force P-51 Operational Instructions manual, which is completely printable

Good overall, but historically inaccurate. PRINCESS (#1078) is often confused with PENNY (#1079) and the two have merged into a single identity. The kill flags are from Lester Arasmith's airplane (the aforementioned PENNY, #1079).
