The Cessna 195 was one of the flagship names of commercial airplanes, right after the Second World War. Part of what many believe was the “golden age” of aircraft and aviation improvements in general, with some people believing that we have hit some plateaus in modern aircraft advancements, the Cessna 195 Businessliner is an extremely popular plane and even today still holds a strong value in the market for collectors, should you be lucky to find one of the 1,180 units actually created!

This model for X-Plane is a very close representation of the real-life model, with key attention to detail paid in the design and the actual performance and specifications of the plane. It’s imperative that when you fly a plane in a simulator that it’s as close to the real thing as possible and this does just that. With in-depth research carried out on the plane and how it ran in the air to the sounds it made, this is as close to the Businessliner as you can get in a virtual environment.

Classic aircraft are a rare treat for simulation users as they provide with far less extra technology to run with, and instead with just the basics to get in line with – but the catch is you need to actually know how to fly the thing in the first place! This collection comes with a list of accessible documents that can make it much easier to actually understand how the plane works and how you can get the most out of it in the simulator experience.

About The Cessna 195 Businessliner

A hugely important part of the post-Second World War airline boom, as people started to see the incredible strides we made in automobiles happen with planes; this five-seater aircraft used just one engine but was able to carry people huge distances at a fair speed. With a cantilever wing and a flat sprung steel landing gear this is one of the most “basic” planes you will find out there, but it’s vintage look & feel makes it perfect for those who are too used to the modern flight experience.

One of the main attraction of the plane to buyers and viewers was it’s incredible attention to detail. The designs on the exterior of the plane, matched with the quality of the design of the cockpit, made it one of the early planes on the market to really carry a significant style rather than just substance. From the beautiful leather seating inside for the passengers to the Certificate of Airworthiness in the top corner of the cockpit, this was one of the first “luxury” style planes and even today it still offers a fair challenge to many of the big-name aircrafts in terms of overall coolness.

It’s a hugely popular product on auctions and bids as it’s got a hugely vintage quality, and with just under 1,200 in creation there’s no surprise to see that today they can go for massive prices to aviation collectors.

Key Features

  • Huge amounts of time and effort has gone into the creation of the textures of the Cessna 195. Alabeo are renowned for their control of the X-Plane engine and have made sure that the game really produces the finest quality of HD textures possible. It pushes the game to the very limits, but even on lower graphical settings the quality of the Cessna can put vanilla models to shame

  • Realistic graphical additions have been included like window scratches & blade shines when you are in the air and the rotors are going at full-speed. These little touches make all the difference and really make the plane stand out when compared with vanilla models included in the game. The gauges in the cockpit even have reflections on them – if you want to see a genuine attempt to re-create a real life cockpit of a Cessna 195 then this is the best attempt out there for X-Plane

  • A modernized version of the cockpit to give you access to some more modern representations, as any remakes or remodels of a Cessna today would have – you won’t get everything you would in a modern plane, but you’ll get plenty of help from these extras that will make it feel more like a rational experience

  • Authentic documentation provided that can make your life much easier if you have no experience of flying a Cessna before. It’s very different to a modern aircraft so if you are struggling to make the plane hit the right notes for you just consult these guides to get the full picture on why the Cessna operates as it does

  • A volumetric side-view prop effect has been used so that you can get the best possible view from your plane. Without all of the extras in the cockpit you will need to get used to using your eyes and ears more when you are flying, and this side-view makes it much easier to survey what’s coming up and around you at all times!

  • A totally blank design comes with the package, so that you can create your own livery for your plane and fly your own colors in the skies of wherever you want in the world. You also get access to four HD liveries already included in famous and popular designs, but the blank version lets you go from scratch to make a Cessna that looks just as you would have wanted it to in real life!

  • The flight style and characteristics of the plane has been taken to the very finest of details so that you get the most authentic representation possible. Having the right balance, power and speed in your plane is incredibly important, as you want to get the right feel for the plane as if you were flying it in real-life. With hours of specification examination and planning put in place, this plane carries the authentic skills & qualities of its real life equivalent

I understand that not everyone gets the appeal of an aircraft like this, but in my opinion they are missing out. Not only does something like this offer a completely different kind of flying experience, as well as a real challenge, but there is so much history here - it's a shame that some people will just gloss over this aircraft because it's old.

Alabeo have done something really special, they have immortalized an aircraft that marked a huge turning point in the history of aviation. A lot of real life collectors would pay ridiculous amounts of money for one of these nowadays and although I don't consider myself a collector in any regard, I'm thrilled to be able to have a Cessna 195 Businessliner in my hangar.

I find the vintage design really appealing; a lot of newer aircraft can begin to feel a bit similar, so it's nice to switch it up and try something a bit different. Alabeo have really captured the feel of the aircraft and created a model that is incredibly faithful to its real life counterpart both in terms of visuals and performance. The liveries are exactly like what you would see if you saw one of these at auction, which not only adds a layer of realism through authenticity, but also helps to add a lot of character to the model.

It can be a real challenge when it comes to actually flying the Cessna 195, especially if you are used to more modern systems. You really need to take the time to learn how to fly it, which can be infinitely more fun than just picking up a new aircraft that you know you can already handle. The time spent reading through the procedures and performance tables, while learning your way around an unfamiliar cockpit, is how you build a rapport with the aircraft. Otherwise, it's like jumping to the last page of a book, you miss out on the whole journey.

If you've got the patience and the eagerness to try and tackle a piece of history like this, then this download is perfect for you. I've had a great time learning the ins-and-outs of this aircraft, and what I've learned I will take with me for the rest of my flight simming career.

As Jared Tooker said, it is such an underrated plane. Personally, it's one of the general aviation aircraft I like the most, as well as a true piece of history. 5 stars. Currently waiting for a seaplane version.
