De Havilland DHC-4 (C-7) Caribou for FSX/FS2004

De Havilland DHC-4 (C-7) Caribou for FSX/FS20045.0/5 1 reviews

Another excellent addition to the world of aviation, the DHC-4 Caribou is an aircraft that many people love to take control of due to its light and friendly nature. Given that it's close to being 60 years old, though, the aircraft has its faults in comparison to more modern versions. It's gull wings and large, upswept tail made it very interesting in terms of the way it flew and also make it a good candidate for steep angles when departing. Read more...

  • C-7, RCAF (United Nations), 1968

  • YAC-1, US Army Parachute Team, the 'Golden Knights', 1985

Key Features

  • Note: This remake of the DHC-4 Caribou has been PORTED from FS9 to FSX. This means that although it works and has been re-tuned and optimized to fit with the depth and detail of the original, it carries nothing like the same weight of detail and precision as other Virtavia packages. It has no extra bump mapping, self-shadowing etc. included

  • That being said, this model has been revamped and improved to carry all of the detail and quality that it possibly can given the quality of the hardware it was originally designed upon. All of this, when put together, creates a highly effective look and design that you can trust to get the job done. It just adds another layer of realism, making up for the lack of extra details

  • Impressive accuracy has been included with regards to the scale and the shape of this aircraft. Hours of honing, editing and improvement has been put in to make sure that this whole package manages to capture the right look and feel. By doing so, the whole thing comes together and ensures that you will be getting a realistic representation of what this aircraft looks like as you begin your ascent

  • A highly detailed virtual cockpit has been created to give you the most realistic representation possible of the aircraft. This has been created with the idea of making something that ensures the whole cockpit feels like home to you, and will ensure that you have a wide selection of options to pick from in terms of controls. With everything clearly detailed and labeled, you start benefiting from the multiple animations and mousable controls that have been included in this package

  • A fuselage interior has been included to give that extra kick and hint of realism when you are flying this aircraft. It looks outstanding and manages to give you all of the help that you need in feeling comfortable when sitting in the cockpit of this aircraft. It will make it much easier to relax, also, as it matches the realistic fittings that are included

  • An authentic, all-XML 2D panel package has been included for ease of use to make sure that the whole thing can be easily managed on your part. It also ensures that you can get to grips with things like the customized pop-up features that appear. These give you access to things like the autopilot, as well as radios and electrics. Everything here is fully mousable, making it incredibly easy to control and to use effectively

  • A simulated Caribou sound set has been made up from scratch to ensure that sound ripple through the aircraft and sound as realistic as possible when they do so. Each sound that is played has been taken from the real thing so you can be sure that it sounds the way it was supposed to. It also manages to really capture the depth and feeling of the interior as various parts of the aircraft spark into life and make relevant sounds

  • Animated slide doors have been made up, along with rear doors that have a ramp included for easy access and exits. These simple systems make it nice and easy for you to get out of the aircraft, ensuring that you'll have no problems in feeling the realism in full flow

  • High authentic flight models have been created to ensure that this remake of the DHC-4 Caribou carries all of the hallmarks that it should. By having the right kind of design and features throughout the model you should find it much easier to feel at home when you jump into the cockpit of this aircraft

  • Checklists are added in so that you can easily manage and look around what you need to get done in this passage of flight, ensuring that you can easily get to grips with all of the little nuances that make up this aircraft, as well

  • Realistic crew teams have been created from scratch to give you a range of different crew members to help populate the aircraft and make it feel far more realistic. If you want to get this kind of feeling and see just how an aircraft should be staffed, you should install this

  • Reflective textures are included to make sure the aircraft looks its best in the weather, allowing the sun and the light to bounce off it as it would have done in the real world

  • It comes with working landing lights and taxi lights that will help improve your vision as you come down to land in the first place. This really does help make sure that you can fly the aircraft at the darker hours without losing all of that much-needed visibility as you come in to make your descent in the first place!
