Mil Mi-24V "Hind E" for FSX/P3D

Mil Mi-24V "Hind E" for FSX/P3D5.0/5 1 reviews

The Nemeth Designs team, known for their amazing work recreating helicopters for our favorite simulators, now bring the Mi-24V Hind E to the table. Available as an immediate download for your copy of Flight Simulator X, this quality add-on has some rather heavy features backing it up and as such, requires the FSX Acceleration expansion pack to run properly. The Mi-24 is a well recognized low capacity transport and attack helicopter, often referred to by its NATO designation - Hind. With the Hind E, its role of attack helicopter is the more dominant. The original was equipped with a GUV-8700 gun-pod firing 12.7mm rounds and there was no reason to remove it from the Hind E. However, the Hind E was also equipped with eight AT-6 Spiral anti-tank missile systems, mounted on four outer wing pylons, making it a truly devastating aircraft. So much so that it became the most widely produced variant of the lot. Read more...

The menacer of this helicopter is in part due to its aesthetic and design. Using original blueprints and documentation, Nemeth Designs have captured this vibe perfectly and produced an aircraft that, true-to-life, looks as powerful as it actually is. The finely crafted 3D model can be painted in different liveries, all using a simple camouflage design but each with a different color palette. While colorful, these liveries manage to not interfere with the strong, solid construction underneath and show signs of a successful service history. Custom dirt and rain windshield effects and a further level of detail to already great looking model, while hundreds of custom animations do their part to make the model feel more realistic and palpable.

If you're not familiar with helicopters like this, the interior cockpit can be almost as intimidating to a pilot as the exterior can be to enemy forces. Dozens of gauges, readouts, switches and knobs encapsulate you in the space efficient and fully clickable dynamic virtual cockpit; it can be a daunting task for a rookie to learn their way around it. As you get a sense for your surroundings, you'll notice the numerous 3D animated instruments and the spectacle of the cockpits night lighting. Nemeth Designs have included a comprehensive manual that should act as a how-to for the Hind E, and help you along your adventurous path from rookie to ace.

Manufacturers Description

The well known Mi-24 is an attack/low capacity transport helicopter which was developed by the Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant in the late 70s in the former Soviet Union.

The Mi-24 (NATO designation Hind) is one of the most widely-known assault helicopter gunships in the world, and remains in service with at least 50 air arms.

The Mi-24 was developed from the Mi-8 multirole transport helicopter and was first flown in V-24 prototype form in 1969. The definitive initial production variant was the Mi-24D Hind-D. This introduced heavily-armored, stepped cockpits ant an undernose gun turret. This gunship has a crew of three and can carry up to 8 fully-equipped troops.

The Mi-24V type, (NATO code HIND-E), is the advanced version that came from the Mi-24D type. The major change is in the use of a STURM-V device, which is the modern and more efficient navigation system, and the use of 9M 114 (AT-6 SPIRAL) anti-tank guided missiles, which are fired from two cylinder containers mounted at each wing tips. It's capable of 310km/h in high-speed cruise, 750 km maximum flight distance and 12,500 kg maximum takeoff weight.

This addon represents the "Mi-24V Hind E" variant.

I've enjoyed a FS9 freeware version for years and I'm happy to report this version meets all my expectations: It handles nicely and flies at the appropriate max speed. The detail inside and out is superb. I'm flying both versions of FSX and 2 versions of P3D (2 & 3) so I have all aircraft in common on a single shared drive using both Win7 & Win10 and I expect no issues from any version I fly. Sweet Flyin' Bird. Being a recipient of its actual firepower is probably a different thing altogether.
