After gaining some experience with this model significant improvements were made in the next generation of F-4U aircraft. The British named the F4U the 'Corsair'. Choose the P-47 Thunderbolt and fly the actual "Dallas Blonde" flown by Lt. Donald Kearns of 319th FG. Select the Mosquito PR_MKXVI, which flew actual photo reconnaissance for the USAAF. The Mosquito MKXVIII flew ground attack.

Aircraft

F-4U Corsair

  • Royal Navy:  British version of the early F4U. The wings were clipped to fit the deck heads of British carrier hangar decks. Experience gained with this model led to significant improvements in the next generation and eventual carrier qualification. It was the British who named the F4U the 'Corsair'.
  • USN VMF215. The F4U was produced in a wide variety of markings and schemes before the final all-over 'NAVY' blue was settled on for all US Corsairs. One of the earlier schemes was this 'three-blue' version.

Mosquito

  • dH 98 Mosquito PR_MKXVI Photo-reconnaissance of USAAF, 25th. BG 8thAF 1944
  • dH 98 Mosquito MK_XVIII ground attack and anti-shipping fighter-bomber developed from FB Mk VI. A Molins 6-pounder 57mm cannon firing 25 rounds and 4 x .303 machine guns made up the armament.

P-38 Lightning

  • P-38F Lightning of the 94th Fighter Squadron Sardinia 1943. 'Bat Out Of Hell'
