One of the most difficult approaches in aviation history is now available to play on Flight Simulator, and it has been rendered in beautiful, hyper realistic detail. The scenery of the Kai Tak airport and the city of Hong Kong has been awarded multiple awards for the level of detail.

The software developers have certainly worked their magic on the Hong Kong City and Kai Tak Airport sceneries! After 14 months of development, the scenery has been created that not only brings a formerly closed airport back to life, but also gives simulators the chance to take a look at one of the busiest urban hubs on the planet.

The developer, FlyTampa, has ensured that the frame rate stays high, giving you the maximum enjoyment on the simulation.

One of the most exciting parts of the simulation is approaching the airport as you fly over the lush Hong Kong scenery, which consists of a complex mesh, landclass, photo realistic ground and thousands of custom buildings rendered in beautiful and careful detail.

The Kai Tak International airport has been rendered in all its glory, created as it was before it closed in 1998. The curved Checkerboard approach has been rendered in extremely high detail, so make sure to land your plane safely!

There are two heliports, one located on the Peninsula Hotel rooftop and another on the Shun-Tak Ferry. Animated AI ships will be coming and going all the time, including Hong Kong's Starferry, along with an assortment of junkers and barges. There is also custom animated traffic and Flight Simulator X traffic that move throughout the city, adding to an ultra realistic and very satisfying simulation experience.

Discover one of the most challenging approaches in aviation history. This multible awarded scenery of the Kai-Tak airport and the city of Hong Kong has been recreated by the famous FlyTampa developmet team and brings back the REAL Kait-Tak airport in stunning details for FSX and FS2004.

Almost 10 years after the actual airport was closed, FlyTampa reanimated the Kai Tak International Airport of Hong Kong for the Flight Simulator. It took fourteen months to create a scenery which not only brings a closed airport to life again but also provides the possibility to take a look at one of the most pulsating cities of our planet.

All of this is combined with a high frame rate, typical for FlyTampa. Approaching the airport is an exceptional adventure.

"Thanks to Fly Tampa, Kai Tak is now re-opened, and I cannot say how glad I am that it is! After seeing hundreds of videos of 747s and A340s turning final at the checkerboard hill, I was finally able to do it at the controls of my very own virtual airliner. Despite the two issues with this scenery (Fences, and Possible Frame Rate issues at higher settings) it is definitely a winner in my book. Unlike most scenery packages, you get most of a densely packed city as well as the airport in the package, and it is all extremely well executed. "...The final flaw that will really get to people is performance. With so much custom scenery, there’s no way performance can be better than default, and this Hong Kong is no exception. Frame-rates will drop by quite a bit with this scenery, using the intensive options or not, however if you had default Hong Kong running well before, there’s a good chance that given a little configuration time, you’ll find a good balance between performance and detail to still find it enjoyable to fly over.
