f you choose to take off from the Charles de Gaulle, the powerful catapault will propel your strong Rafale M airbone without any down time. When you are landing, a strong tail hook will be there to catch the steel cable, bringing your fast-moving aircraft to a smooth stop. You can also fly the brand new F-35 JSF and the Harrier in vertical flight, taking off from the HMS Illustrious and the USS Bonhomme Richard.

In this add on, you'll have access to all new equipment from the military, including the USS Bonhomme Richard, the French Charles de Gaulle, the British HMS Illustrious, the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter and the AV-8B II Plus Harrier. Oh, and you'll also be able to pilot the exciting Rafale M aircraft! When you use Carrier Strike Force with Flight Simulator X, you will have access to some incredible features, such as taking off and landing from a moving aircraft carrier, adding a unique new challenge to the flight simulator experience.

Flight Simulator X also provides a launch that is incredibly accurate, and a recovery that is astonishingly detailed, by making full use of the 3WireX technology. You will also have access to five great missions and six open ended mini training missions when you use the software with Flight Simulator X.

The missons will take you all over the world. One of the most exciting is the Mig Crisis, when you will have to deal with a rogue state trying to take away your territorial waters, and sends Mig aircraft after your aircraft carriers. You will also have to defend the Charles de Gaulle carrier in another mission, as enemy aircraft descend upon it from far away. These missions make Carrier Strike Force an incredibly detailed and exciting experience!

Carrier Strike Force continues the excitement of aircraft carrier operations.

You'll take the seat on board new aircraft and fly from three new carriers. On board the Charles de Gaulle, the powerful catapult gets your mighty Rafale M airborne in just a few hundred feet. And during recovery, you'll want your tailhook to catch the steel cable to bring your muscular aircraft to a screeching halt. Fly the new F-35 JSF and the Harrier in vertical flight from the HMS Illustrious and USS Bonhomme Richard.

Carrier based flight is the ultimate challenge in aviation and in Carrier Strike Force you can climb into the cockpit of three super detailed high performance aircraft from around the world and land or take-off from the deck of moving aircraft carriers!

Carrier Strike Force has a truly impressive fleet of aircraft that will keep you on the edge of your seat and a set of 6 exciting missions plus a further 6 open-ended practice missions for users of Flight Simulator X to complete.

HMS Illustrious, or “Lusty” as she is known by her crew, is the second of three Invincible Class aircraft carriers and features the AV-8B II Plus Harrier aircraft similar to that on the front cover. 4 Gas Turbine Olympus engines power “Lusty” making her a marinised version of Concorde, with a top speed in excess of 30 knots.

The USS Bonhomme Richard is an amphibious assault ship with a primary mission of embarking, deploying and landing elements of a Marine force in amphibious assault operations by helicopter, landing craft, amphibious vehicles or combination of theses means.  In this package you will be landing a F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter on her decks.

Charles de Gaulle was commissioned in September 2000 and is a 38,000t, nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, constructed at Brest in Brittany. Following sea trials in 1999, she had the deck lengthened by 4.4 metres and can operate a fleet of up to 40 aircraft including the Rafale M fighters included in this package.

New technology has meant that the aircraft carriers in Carrier Strike Force actually move, presenting the flight simmer with a real challenge to land the aircraft on a moving deck.  The carriers are strategically based around the world. 

Each aircraft is dressed in authentic paint schemes and with beautifully rendered graphics, including animated flight control surfaces and accurate flight models.

You'll operate from moving aircraft carriers with super accurate catapult launch and recovery system*. You'll experience the thrill of authentic deck operations with AI traffic on and above the carrier. You'll see why cable recovery on the short flight deck is both thrilling and nerve-wracking.

With five previous release of our world-reknown Flight Deck Series we have the know-how and experience to bring you the excitement of aircraft carrier-based flight.

Launch
It's launch time on the Charles de Gaulle.  Taxi into position over the catapult. The launch team connects you. The steam is flowing and the catapult armed.  Shove the throttles forward. Release the brakes. The catapult slams you to the back of your seat.

Recovery
Returning to the Charles de Gaulle, you'll descend, fly past the carrier, turn a quick base and lower your flaps.  Quickly lose some speed and then turn final to line up with the deck.  Drop your gear and tailhook. Don't loose too much height. The LSO gives you the green. Hold steady. Over the edge hit the deck and give it full power.

• Mig Crisis - You're on maneuvers in F-35 in the north pacific with the carrier task force when a new break away rouge state claims territorial waters of your route and sends out 4 Mig aircraft towards the carriers
• Mig Thunder 1 - The Charles de Gaulle carrier is under attack by 4 unidentified Mig aircraft off of South America.
• Mig Tunder 2 - The Charles de Gaulle carrier is under attack by 4 unidentified Mig aircraft off in the Mediterranean.
• Mig Thunder 3- The Charles de Gaulle carrier is under attack by 4 unidentified Mig aircraft off of a desert coast of Africa.
• Joint Mission Training - Fly the F-35 on maneuvers from the Charles de Gaulle along side the UK HMS Illustrious and the USS Bonehomme Richard.
• HMS Illustrious Training - Joint practice naval amphibious operations with the US navy and Marines at Cape Wrath bombing range

Practice Missions – these missions are open-ended. You come in for a landing and can fly around and try again if you want. There are no rewards given.
